| Why did you start the business? |
I have always had the idea lingering in the back of my mind. When my tiling business perished in the great recession 2008 i was out of work for over a year. I finally found a job doing security just to at least cover the bills etc and after six months of being in that job it just came to me, what better time to start my cleaning company. Ran it part time for a while and as it got more demanded i left my job and jumped in full time. Here i am! |

| What has been the biggest surprise, good or bad, since you started? |
How quickly you can grow in this industry. |
| What is the toughest part of running your business? |
I wouldn't really deem it tough because I absolutely love what I do...but staying on top of everything can be a little challenging |
| What is the best part of running your business? |
I get to pick up my 4 year old son from school which wouldn't be the case if i was traditionally employed |
| Is there anything that you would have done differently? |
Yes. There has been a point where although I maintained my business I let the growth strategy drop purely by getting sidetracked and distracted by other projects. I have learnt that you need to be 100% focused all the time so although I still have my business and long standing customers I had gotten a little overwhelmed. I have now reeled myself back in and will make sure that does not repeat itself. All part of the learning process. |
| What is the most important thing you will be adding, doing, changing in the next year for your business? |
Improvements for staff incentives and morale. Growth |
| Where do you see your business in 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years? |
My main aim is to have the business and £100,000 turn over in the next 2 years. I am currently around half way there. In the next five years thinking of building out the business as a franchise or just expanded to other cities. |
| What advice could you give others and please don't hold back! |
Completely follow any dream through, ruthlessly as if your life depends on it..literally. Stay positive and MUST adapt a can do WILL do attitude. Be humble and remember to give back.. There will be obstacles along the way but with these attributes you'll be just fine. |
