Jean Hanson -

Name Tonya Monique Smith
Name of your business: Mrs. Clean it up
When did you open your business? 2015
What services do you offer? I offer cleaning services for small offices, residential homes, apartments, and condos.
Why did you start the business? I started my business because I wanted the freedom of making my own schedule to have the opportunity to spend quality time with my family and friends especially on holidays and special occasions. Prior to owning my own business I was a general manager of a hotel and enjoyed it very much but I didn't have a life that was meaningful because I had to be devoted to my job that required me to work all day everyday.
How many people are in your company? I have three people in my company
What has been the biggest surprise, good or bad, since you started? My biggest surprise was to see how many people actually needed help with their daily cleaning habits. Whether they are single parents, married couples, military household or retired persons everyone needs help now and again and some people require my help weekly or daily.
What is the toughest part of running your business? The toughest part of running my business is worrying about whether or not a customer will be difficult the first time we meet.
What is the best part of running your business? The best part of running my business is the recognition from my customers that I have done a great job and they are satisfied. It's an added bonus just to be able to meet new people.
Is there anything that you would have done differently? What I would have done differently is listen to my heart.  Regardless of the negative things people had to say, I would have done it much sooner.
What is the most important thing you will be adding, doing, changing in the next year for your business? The most important thing I will be working on in the next year will be to gain more clients and add additional services.
Where do you see your business in 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years? I see my business in two years being extremely popular in the area that I am in and expanding out to the surrounding areas, In five years I expect my business to have expanded to other states with not just residential cleaning and small office cleaning but with added clients on my list such as restaurants and larger businesses.
What advice could you give others and please don't hold back! The advice that I give to others often is never let fear hold you back to the point that you will give up on your dreams. People are always going to be negative whether your doing bad or good but don't back down. You will never know if  you will be a success if you don't at least try. Most of all failing at something does not mean that your dream is over, just continue to try, push forward and keep moving until you get it right.
How do you use MyHouseCleaningBiz.com to help you with your business? I am a new member and just joined today. I have not had the opportunity to explore the site in its entirety but will do so today. I did however read about the site before I joined and felt as though this site could help me profoundly with ideas of advertising more as well as meeting a community of  business owners such as myself that can offer business advise and ideas seems to be awesome.
School - high school, college, technical school: Currently enrolled in school online working towards my Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management  with a concentration in leadership.
What are some of your prior jobs or businesses? General Manager of a hotel, Housekeeping Manager, Customer service supervisor of a call center
Is there a specific person or event in your life that made you decide to go into business for yourself? My family that I rarely saw because of working always and events that I could not attend because of working constantly.
