Jean Hanson -

Your Name: Kevin Purnell

Name of your business: Serenity Cleaning Solutions

When did you open your business? 1998

What services do you offer? Serenity Cleaning Solutions offers a flexible cleaning schedule to meet your needs, whether it is weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or a one time clean, we guarantee that our services and performance will exceed your expectations.

Why did you start the business?  I really started SCS to help make a difference in peoples lives. Providing them a service to make their homes healthier. SCS loves to clean and that allows us to take the dirty job of cleaning away from our clients.

How many people are in your company? 3

What has been the biggest surprise, good or bad, since you started? The biggest surprise to me was learning things that I thought I already knew about the industry. Since starting the business, I put it on the back burner until 2010, and a lot of information has become available showing me I had so much more to learn. The biggest surprise would also have to be the pace of the growth, I always thought, this would take off quicker for me.

What is the toughest part of running your business? Getting a solid marketing plan to allow me to be a force in this industry. Having the finances to do all the things I know that will put me in the right place to be one of the leaders in the industry.

What is the best part of running your business? Helping others by providing them quality time with their familes while SCS creates a happy and healthy home.

Is there anything you would have done differently? I would have really had a solid plan of attack before starting.

What is the most important thing you will be adding, doing, changing in the next year for your business? Gaining a niche in the market to implement chemical free cleaning into my business.

Where do you see your business in 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years? I plan to see my business growing substantially in the next years to come. The hard work I am putting in now, will manifest itself into what is supposed to be. Business will double for me each year.

What advice could you give others and please don't hold back! The main advice I would give is to follow your dream. Business ownership is not for everyone, but for the ones that stick it out and learn ALL they can, they will reap the rewards. Stay positive and true to the industry and know we are all in this together. There is so much we can learn from each other along the way.......You have not because you ask not.

How do you use MyHouseCleaningBiz.com to help you with your business? I use myhousecleaningbiz.com to network with other cleaning business owners and to not re-invent the wheel.
