Why did you start the business? In early 2009 I worked as a corporate franchise liaison for a restaurant chain for 18 years. I was an experienced people/customer service oriented multi-level manager, with an earlier position 5 years previously in the HR Dept., then without warning our entire department was laid off. For almost next three years, I searched for "a fit" for myself. I have a great work ethic, the ability to hire/train/develop great employees. I work well with a structured, integrity-driven, detailed, profitable agenda. Nothing seemed to pay enough or challenge me until I decided to start my own cleaning service. I enjoy it very much and have grew quickly, am comfortably busy now. I worked very hard, learned, studied, experienced trials, errors and remain successful.
How many people are in your company? Myself and 3 part time employees
What has been the biggest surprise, good or bad, since you started? How fast I 'filled up' due to word of mouth.
What is the toughest part of running your business? Learning that 'clean' is so varied from person to person.
What is the best part of running your business? My control of client relationships, delivering a "wow" experience, and coaching awareness to detail in my people.
Is there anything that you would have done differently? There is probably a few things I thought I had to have/know which weren't as crucial as I thought it would be.
What is the most important thing you will be adding, doing, changing in the next year for your business? Growing my business slowly and developing the skills to do so.
Where do you see your business in 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years? Successful, satisfying and profitable.
What advice could you give others and please don't hold back! I'm too "young" to give quality advice.
