When did you open your business? May 2013

What services do you offer? Green, toxic free/organic residential cleaning services.

Why did you start the business? I was desperate to make some money. It started off with the intention of just doing a few houses to make some extra money and eventually I would give it up after finding a job. Well that didn't exactly happen. Clients kept referring me and my ads were working. So I decided to make it into a full on business.

How many people are in your company? Just myself right now but I have 2 other girls that help me out when I'm busy.

What has been the biggest surprise, good or bad, since you started? How many people are willing to pay you to clean their already clean house. LOL

What is the toughest part of running your business? The physical labour is hard some days, particularly when I have 2 clients back to back. The other thing is ramping up clients and employees at the same pace.

What is the best part of running your business? The freedom and flexibility of my time. I am an entrepreneur at heart, so it' fits perfectly with me.

Is there anything that you would have done differently? Started bigger from the beginning.

What is the most important thing you will be adding, doing, changing in the next year for your business? My goal is to have a full weekly roster of clients and employees or subcontractors doing all the work.

Where do you see your business in 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years? In 5 years I would like to franchise the business and in 10+ I would like to sell it.

What advice could you give others and please don't hold back! Learn marketing. Under promise and over deliver to both your clients and your employees.

School - high school, college, technical school: I have an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from a Canadian university.

What are some of your prior jobs or businesses? I was a top earner in a network marketing company and prior to that an online marketer and a business analyst.

Is there a specific person or event in your life that made you decide to go into business for yourself? It's always been in me. My first business was a henna tattoo stand at the beach during the summer months.
