When did you open your business? March 2010
What services do you offer? I do residential cleaning, as well as vacation homes & rental properites. I also clean boats, do yard work, and gardening. I use only pure Essential Oils, and plant based products to clean with in my business. I travel within a 45 mile radius from my home.
Why did you start the business? I was laid off from my job, so I created this business.
How many people are in your company? Just me, for now.
What has been the biggest surprise, good or bad, since you started? So far there has been no big surprises for me! :0)
What is the toughest part of running your business? The toughest part of running this business, is the amount of time I spend at each home. I have a hard time "cutting corners", (I don't cut corners; I CLEAN them) a lot of people expect you to clean their whole house in 2 hours, which can't be done if you want it done right.
I have a work ethic that I'm proud of, and when I clean a home, it is a reflection of my standards. I can't just fly through it...I HAVE to CLEAN it!
What is the best part of running your business? Satisfied customers that compliment me on a job well done! I love to hear "Wow...it's been a long time since it's been THIS clean!" When my customer's are happy, I'm happy!
Is there anything that you would have done differently? Nothing comes to mind yet, of course, I'm just getting started!
What is the most important thing you will be adding, doing, changing in the next year for your business? Growing and hiring people to help me with the labor!
Where do you see your business in 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years? I hope to create my own line of products to sell to my customers. I really want to see everyone eventually switching to all- natural products and getting rid of the toxins in their homes.
What advice could you give others and please don't hold back! Just do it!

School - high school, college, technical school: Graduated from High school in 1979, attended WKU for a year, became a Certified Veterinary Technician, Certified Dental Assistant, and I've taken other college courses along the way as well.
What are some of your prior jobs or businesses? I was a stay at home Mom while my children were young. I was a Dental Assistant for many years, & a Veterinary Technician. I've also been a "sub" for friend's cleaning business's off and on. I have worked in Green houses, delivered auto parts, and a few other "odd jobs" too!
Is there a specific person or event in your life that made you decide to go into business for yourself? Yes, I got tired of working hard for others, and barely making my ends meet. Being my own boss was definitely a good decision!
