Do's and Don'ts for the About Us Page on Your Cleaning Business Web Site

MyHouseCleaningBiz.com

Did you know that the About Us page is often the most visited page on your web site? Yet some cleaning business owners write the copy for this page with almost no thought to its importance.

I know that one of the first places I go to when checking out a business online is the About Us page. That's because I want to know who is behind this business. What are their names? What do they look like? How long have they been in business? I'm not just looking for their philosophy (We believe in providing quality service, blah, blah...). I want to know the PEOPLE behind the business.

So I've put together a list of Do's and Don'ts that you should consider when creating (or re-creating) your About Us page:

Do: Give your name and the names of any other owners or key people in the business.
Don't: Write a book about each person. Be brief, but concise.

Do: Add photos of each person mentioned on the page.
Don't: Use poor-quality photos. They don't have to be taken by a professional photographer, but you should have nice head shots.

Do: Say WIIFM (What's in it for me). This is a great opportunity to convert a web site visitor into a warm prospect. So briefly tell them what's in it for THEM and why they should choose your services.
Don't: Be boring about it -- let your personality shine through. Tell a good story about the founders -- perhaps why you're so passionate about cleaning. Or better yet, let one of your existing customers tell a story about how your business has impacted their business.

And one last tip -- be sure to add your contact information on the page or link to a separate Contact Us page.

Follow these tips and you're likely to see more people calling to speak to you personally and to find out more about your business.
