Cleaning Business Owners: Learning To Manage Stress
Cleaning Business Owners: Learning To Manage Stress
Do you have any of these signs of stress?
- Difficulty sleeping
- Irritability or anxiety
- Increased use of alcohol, tobacco or drugs
- Feeling overwhelmed, like you are losing control
- Feeling depressed
- Not wanting to be around other people
- Constant worrying
- Inability to focus
- Feeling negative or pessimistic
- Frequent illness
- Low energy
- Cold hands, rapid breathing, rapid heart beat, achiness, muscle tension
Here are some things to help you manage stress:
- Express your feelings openly before stress builds up.
- Identify your stress triggers and how you respond. If you engage in unhealthy behavior then change your response.
- Don't over commit yourself.
- Have realistic expectations of yourself and others.
- Accept that you can't control every situation or decision.
- Look for the humor in the situation to relieve tension.
- Get plenty of rest, exercise regularly, eat well-balanced meals.
- Make time for activities that help you relax (i.e. listen to music, read, take a walk).
- Try to look for the best in yourself and others.
- Learn to accept change and be flexible.
- When things get tense, close your eyes, relax your body, and breathe deeply. You'll be surprised how much it helps.
Everyone is under stress in one way or another. How you deal with it can make all the difference in the world.
"The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another." --William James
