Residential Cleaning: How to Plan a Route for a Team of Three Cleaning Technicians
Developing efficient cleaning routes are essential to every home cleaning business in order to maximize productivity. Every cleaning route needs to be tested and refined until the most efficient route is found for the home.
Every team leader and/or supervisor should make sure that cleaning routes are outlined for every home you clean. With the tools available today it is easy to develop floor plans of every home you service. Develop floor plans with cleaning routes clearly outlined and review it with each cleaning technician.
Every employee should know their cleaning routes. It is inefficient to let your employees try to figure it out on their own, and you want to make sure the route is the same no matter who is doing the cleaning that day. You will develop cleaning routes for trash removal, dusting, spot cleaning, bathroom cleaning, vacuuming and utility duties.
You will develop cleaning routes for a single cleaner, 2 person and 3 person team that will do trash removal, dusting, spot cleaning, bathroom cleaning and vacuuming .

Transcript for Planning a Route for a Team of 3 Cleaning Technicians:
With a three person team cleaning a home, each cleaning worker will have their own duties to perform.
After bringing supplies and equipment into the home, cleaning workers two and three would start with making the beds together.
Cleaning worker number 1 duties would be to clean the foyer, kitchen, bathrooms. The cleaning worker would bring all the supplies with them in a cleaning apron and maid caddy. They will start at the foyer and move through the home in a circular motion, returning to the foyer when completing their route.
After the beds are made cleaning workers two and three would split up.
Cleaning worker number two duties would be to dust and vacuum carpet.
Cleaning worker number three duties would be to collect trash and place in trash bin, sanitize touch surfaces, spot clean glass and mirrors before vacuuming carpet. Cleaning worker three would start at the foyer and work to bedroom #2 before starting to vacuum carpet on that route. (This allows cleaning worker number 2 time to get ahead of cleaning worker number three before cleaning worker three begins vacuuming in bedroom #2) .
When a cleaning worker of a three person team completes their duties they move on to help assist the other team members to complete their tasks.
The duties of the team can be split anyway you like. Always test and evaluate routes and tasks to determine the most efficient production rates for each team member.
