Residential Cleaning: How to Plan a Route for One Cleaning Technician
Developing efficient cleaning routes are essential to every home cleaning business in order to maximize productivity. Every cleaning route needs to be tested and refined until the most efficient route is found for the home.
Every team leader and/or supervisor should make sure that cleaning routes are outlined for every home you clean. With the tools available today it is easy to develop floor plans of every home you service. Develop floor plans with cleaning routes clearly outlined and review it with each cleaning technician.
Every employee should know their cleaning routes. It is inefficient to let your employees try to figure it out on their own, and you want to make sure the route is the same no matter who is doing the cleaning that day. You will develop cleaning routes for trash removal, dusting, spot cleaning, bathroom cleaning, vacuuming and utility duties.
You will develop cleaning routes for a single cleaner, 2 person and 3 person team that will do trash removal, dusting, spot cleaning, bathroom cleaning and vacuuming.

Transcript for Planning a Route for 1 Cleaning Technician:
A one person cleaning worker would perform a 3 pass system in the home. With each pass they will perform their duties as they move through the home in a circular motion, zig zagging back and forth when necessary to move in an efficient matter.
TIP: Always test routes for efficiencies.
On the first pass, starting at the foyer, the cleaning worker would collect trash, clean the foyer, kitchen and bathrooms as they complete their route.
On the second pass they would start at the foyer and perform dusting and sanitizing as they complete their route. This would also be the time for them to make beds if that is part of their duties at the home.
On the third pass they would start at the furthest point from the main entry and vacuum backward in order not to leave any foot prints. They continue on their route toward the foyer turning off lights as they leave a room.
